Chili Feed Ride, Belfair - March 2007

Photos Submitted by Joe & Kim

Chilly Feed weekend March 17 & 18 2007.
All week long the weather guys predicted a rainy weekend. Those dreary predictions didn't dampen the spirits of the 8 rigs that took full advantage of having a campground all to ourselves. There is something extra relaxing about staying in a campground that we don't have any maintenance responsibilities to. Parking between large trees, going without any power or water, made it feel more like I really got away from civilization. We did get a little rain on Saturday but Friday was sunny and in the low 60's and Sunday was a beautiful sunny day again in the 60 degree range.
Sunday morning our peaceful camp area was invaded by nearly 50 of our closest riding friends and club members who came out for the club ride.

I rode with the hot shoes group. We left camp with 13 riders. All of the member riders did have club stickers. Part way through, Jake Barton got a flat tire and headed back to camp. Butch Tjelde was at camp, he had a spare tube and helped Jake fix his bike. The rest of us rode about 22 miles then came through camp, took off the jackets or sweatshirts we didn't need, got more water and gas, picked up Jake who was now ready to go again, then we headed out again for another 23 miles of riding. There were no other breakdowns and we made it back to camp with 8 minutes to spare, the feeding frenzy was scheduled to start at 3 PM.
Rumors I heard from some of the other riding groups are; Olivia Pugh is quite happy with the customized running board type foot pegs Ryan put on his KTM so she can go for rides with her Dad. Ricky Togstad isn't quite as happy as Olivia, Ricky was looking for another ride after his Dad rolled the quad they were riding on together. Both Rick & Ricky are OK, just a bruised ego and a broken mirror.
As with most of our eating events there was plenty of food, smiles, and full tummies, we even sang Happy Birthday to Sara Tucker and enjoyed a bite of Birthday cake.

picture explanations:
MC Towtruck - Fiona (I don't know if I spelled that right) Shanahan had fallen several times and was just too pooped to ride her bike any more. Steve Togstad set the bike on the front of his quad to carry her and the bike back to camp. This makes me wonder, is the stiff rope only for a broken bike? or can it be awarded to any bike that didn't make it back under its own power?

Hot Shoes 2 - The group of hot shoe riders assembled for a short break on the road in the Twin Lakes campground.

Vicky shows Barb - Barb Swanson showed up with a brand new quad. It is a fancy and shinny thing with power steering and electric shifting controlled by switches you push with the left thumb. Before the ride Barb couldn't figure out how to get it into reverse. Luckily, Vicky Gray was there to show her how.

Chili Feed 5 - just a group shot of people sitting, eating and talking.

Chili Feed 1 - a more distant shot of the group. Notice the big trees, foliage, camp surroundings and SUNSHINE!

This should fix the problem.
